About Us

UPDATE: JUNE 23, 2024 After much thought and discussion, we have stopped all intake of kittens/cats. We will continue to help the community with TNR and assist other rescues when able. Our priority is to find homes for the current kittens in our care and homes for the kittens that have become cats in our program.

Back Street Kittens, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in the state of Georgia, Feb. 2019 and was based in Duluth, Georgia. We moved to Dacula in April 2022. We are a very small group of volunteers working to rescue feral kittens and help reduce the feral population in the local area. The inspiration for BSK came from 5 feral kittens that our founder rescued from her own back yard. 5 young, very sick, feral kittens that no local rescue group was interested in helping because they were “feral”.

We are a small rescue with an all-volunteer Board of Directors. This reduces our overhead to a bare minimum, so that all our resources can be focused toward rescuing, socializing and adopting feral kittens. We work closely with selected general rescue agencies in addition to working with the general public.

We concentrate on trapping/socializing feral kittens and getting them adopted into loving homes. We do TNR for the feral cats that are too old to be socialized. We are foster based and do not have the resources to take in cats being surrendered by owners or other friendly cats/kittens.

About Teresa:
Teresa is our founder. She has always loved animals, not just cats but all animals. In 2012 she became a volunteer with a cat rescue group. She started out cleaning cat rooms, then became a foster, then a manager for an adoption center and an adoption counselor. Since then she has adopted 18 cats and fostered close to 200. She works full-time as an office manager for a local company. Her full-time passion is cats!
