About Us

Back Street Kittens, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in the state of Georgia, Feb. 2019 and based in Duluth, Georgia. We are a small group of volunteers working to rescue feral kittens and help reduce the feral population in the local area. The inspiration for BSK came from 5 feral kittens that our founder rescued from her own back yard. 5 young, very sick, feral kittens that no local rescue group was interested in helping because they were “feral”. While at her vet office to pick up the now healthy kittens and paying the large bill, it was suggested that she start a rescue and this got her thinking. Could she really do that? Would she have the support? After careful consideration, she said, “yes, I can do this with the help of good friends”. Phone calls were made, text messages were sent out and she had a board of directors, two fosters comfortable working with ferals and a promise of a nice donation and as they say, the rest is history!

We are a small rescue with an all-volunteer Board of Directors and foster network consisting of carefully screened caretakers. This reduces our overhead to a bare minimum, so that all our resources can be focused toward rescuing, socializing and adopting feral kittens. We work closely with selected general rescue agencies in addition to working with the general public.

We concentrate on trapping/socializing feral kittens and getting them adopted into loving homes. We do TNR for the feral cats that are too old to be socialized. We are foster based and do not have the resources to take in cats being surrendered by owners or other friendly cats/kittens.
